How true that is.

Though they may have holes

It does not dampen their soles

Though they may be weathered

They never leave me

Though many chuckle, tease or mock

They have stood their ground

Through sunny and rainy days

Through heartache, head ache, and stomach ache

They remain my friends

My dearest shoes…

What would I do without you?

Paint My Love

My colleagues have a certain liking for karaoke as there is virtually nothing to do in PD if you’re not into enjoying a book, or walking on the soft sandy beach on a cool evening. So for every teambuilding session, karaoke will always be slotted in as a program. WAJIB Lagi!

What happened was, we were separated into groups according to color (long story). There were 4 categories: Solo, duet (backup dancers-optional), duet + back-up dancers (a must), and Mystery Round (1 gurl, 2 guys). By default I had to be in the last category (there were only 4 women- yes, the population of women in my workplace is only 9%).

Guess what the Mystery Round was?

Kajol: Yours sincerely (me)

Shah Rukh Khan: Fauzi

the Tree: Capt Siva

No way! I know I can’t dance (what more Indian dancing) to save my life. I have no rhythm.

But it was supposed to be for fun so I…relaxed my tense body (nervousness!) and tried to emulate Kajol as best as I could. I must say, I wasn’t the best Kajol. I’m not really a performer. I would rather sing SOLO than dance. Shah Rukh Khan wasn’t bad either, but our CRITCS said that “Kajol pemalu la”… that’s just politeness for “lame”.

The better part of the team building was when we played Paint Ball. Wow…that was really fun. Our team emerged the overall winner. I got spared for the first game from being shot as the guys “didn’t want to kill women and children”. Please. This woman got the flag! But after we kicked their butts, they didn’t think twice about shooting at my face!

Animals! Hehehe

I walked away with bruises but had felt some relief for a while (shooting at people is a cool way to relieve stress)

After that…back to reality…

That’s all folks. Asma Wan, out
